The Farm

Solgården Farm was built in 1830 by the sea captain NP Nilsson and his wife Johanna. NP Nilsson died three years later but his wife continued to run the farm herself at the age of 40 along with the help of her children.

In 1898 Family Stefansson bought the farm. Erland Stefansson who runs it today is the fourth generation Stefansson at Solgården. He and his wife Annika Stefansson live there at present with their four children, Paulina, Oscar, Josefine and Nicolina.

The farm is managed by Erland and Annika as well as one full time employee along with several seasonal employees during the summer months.  ‘New’ potatoes, winter potatoes, carrots, swedes and corn are grown and harvested on approximately 120 hectares farmland. They even cultivate potatoes for the popular Bjäre Hembygd project.
